These are words of Giácomo Agostini, one of the greatest champions of the worldwide motorcycling and tributed on this stage, because the bike that we will use is that more look like on TT with your invincible MV. Let´s see the history of this great champion.

In June 11th, 1942, has born in Lovere, Italy, Giacomo Agostini. With age 9, has won a gift from your dad, a Brianchi 50cc and at 10, he was with a 125cc Bianchi, that lead to the passion for velocity! At 18 almost 19, Agostini decide that he would be a pilot, and your family, although wish him a engineer, decided to support… Like this, in 1961, riding a Morini 175cc, in the circuit of Saluta, Agostini won its first gold medal, before the whole family. In 1962, became Junior Champion of Italy (with a Morini too) in uphill races, disputed in roads, very common in Europe.

On the starting of the career

At the end of the season, Agostini is the second placed on the 350cc and 500cc categories, after of Jim Redman and Mike Hailwood, respectively. In 1966, Agostini is second placed again on 350cc. On 50cc, the world saw the greatest duel then: Agostini won its first championship, on top of Mike Hailwood, that was decided only on the last race! In the same year, Agostini participate too, of the famous Tourist Trophy, and become the Junior Champion (350cc). He would win 9 more times.

The invincible couple: Agostini and MV500

Was very records, terrific performance, great victories! From 1968 to 1972, Agostini was champion continuously on 350 and 500cc categories.
One of these ‘shows’ was at Nurbürgring in 1970. With its 22 kilometers and 170 turns, the fog was too dense that you even can´t see your opponent next to you on the starting grid, and Agostini won with more 3 minutes of gap on top of second placed!

The rumors started saying that he was unmotivated, decadent and only won because MV´s was very superior bikes.

The 1973 season, wasn´t well for Agostini: Phill Read, contracted by MV Agusta in 1972 and he was highlighting, he started well in 1973 season.
With many brokes and some falls, after 4 GP´s, Agostini didn´t score any point, and Phill Read disparity on the leadership. The drop of water came on Sweden GP, when, he came on the leading by team gaming, received orders to leave Phill Read win. Nor the 350cc champion calm down him. Like this, on December 4th, 1973, Agostini announce your exiting of MV Agusta and your hiring millionaire by Yamaha. The reason that makes Agostini happy, was that he would dispute races of 750cc, displacement that MV Agusta didn´t have.
But what was hard is the money and the impossible coexistence with Phill Read.
When they thought that he didn´t fit with 2 times bikes, Agostini one more time love the world and win the traditional and important 200 miles of Daytona in 1974, making the Average Hourly Record the, with 105.010mph.

On 350cc category, was appearing one more highlight, the young and talented Venezuelan Johnny Cecotto, that stays with the champion, that was praised a lot by the second placIn 1976, Yamaha officially exit of the worldwide championship of 500cc, and Agostini start the season with a old MV Agusta, winning the German GP. After he buy a Suzuki, that only brakes, and he quit of the season. On 350cc category, with a MV Agusta 350, only win the Netherlands GP. The rest of the season was only failures. He disputes the Formula 750, with Yamaha, too, without expressive results. In 1977, after more frustrated tries, he decide to definitely leave the tracks. But, with the velocity running on your blood, he still tries the motoring (Formula 2 and Formula 1 – Aurora), but without the same success of the motorcycling.
